Valentines Day 2017

The time of year when we all start thinking about booking our 
Valentine's Day treat has arrived. 
 
This year we have two fantastic menus for you!

We re delighted to offer a range of Special Tapas that will be available throughout the whole Valentine's week(10th-17th Feb)!This menu will be running alongside our regular menu, so the choice's are plentiful. 

We are also offering a romantic 3 Course Menu with Bubbly on Valentine's Day itself! You get a sharing board of Spanish delicacies to start, you then choose 3 tapas each and a dessert to finish the night in style!

Suckling Pig & Wine Pairing Evening

We are glad to announce that our next Tapas & Wine pairing evening is on Wednesday 29th October in Waterloo, and will start at 6:30pm. We still have a small number of tables available, so please call 0151 949 1151 to make your reservation soon if you would like to attend. Tickets are available for the bargain price of £25 per person.

The menu will consist of the following:

- Side order of Reserva Serrano ham, with instructed carving by Javier de la Hormaza.

TAPAS:

- Fillet of Red Mullet with caramelised onion & fennel puree, served with pickled carrots, cucumber chutney & roasted cherry tomatoes. Paired with Enate Gewurztraminer

- Seared Lamb chop served on green Harrisa sauce, beetroot wafers & redcurrant jelly. Paired with Enate Crianza (Tempranillo-Cabernet Sauvignon).

- Suckling Pig stuffed with black pudding & chorizo, with picked radishes, pureed potato & red wine jus. Paired with Enate Syrah-Shiraz.

Our Spanish meat importer Javier de la Hormaza will be there on the evening to give a short introduction to the art of ham carving and also to talk about the star attraction of the evening, which is our Spanish Suckling Pig, which is imported fresh from Segovia.

We will be offering a starter portion of carved ham, followed by three courses of individual tapas, all paired with fabulous wines from the Enate Bodega in North East Spain, roughly between Barcelona and Zaragoza. Laura Mayoral, who is the European Manager for the winery and an expert in their wines, will be flying in from Spain to attend the event and talk to you about how the wines are produced and explain the background of the winery.

The wines will be paired with appropriate foods, and the Chardonnay is unlike any you will have tried before. It is a perfect match for the tender suckling pig, which is served in sliced portions. The secret to the dish is that the pig is allowed to suckle for 21 days, using natural farming processes to produce the best flavour, texture and crackling that you're likely to have tasted!

Cured Iberico ham, stand & knife set; an ideal gift

Are you looking for an unusual yet quality present for someone who loves Spanish food? You can now buy one of our real acorn-fed cured legs of Spanish Iberico Ham, a stylish stand & knife in a black case and instructions for slicing it. The product costs £195, which we will courier to you, or it can be picked up from either of our restaurants, or it can be sent via courier to you.

 

It is exceptional value for money for a product that has won a 3* Taste Award in 2013, and equivalent Iberico hams are often sold, without the stand & knife, for almost £300 by deli's & Spanish food outlets. The ham is an ambient product so there is no need for refrigeration and it is the perfect party food or as a table feature for the family during Christmas. As it comes in a case it is also ideal for storage.

 Alternatively, you can try our Reserve Serrano Ham hamper. This ham also includes the stand & knife, for £149.

b2ap3_thumbnail_SerranoHam.jpgIbérico ham can only come from black pigs of the Iberian breed whose unique origin can be traced back to ancient times. This legendary and select race has many qualities, including a great capacity to accumulate fat under its skin and between the muscular fibres. The fat is what produces the typical white streaks that make its hams so special.

The main feature that distinguishes Ibérico from the rest of cured hams is the purity of the breed, allowed to freely move around the extensive wooded pastures called ‘Dehesas’. At least a hectare of healthy dehesa is needed to raise a single pig. All pigs are fed on a diet of grass and the best acorns from Holm and Cork Oak meadows to provide its distinctive aroma and exquisite taste. Hams are generally classified by the amount of acorns eaten before slaughter.

The official classification allowed is distinguished mainly between ‘Ibérico de Bellota’ which are pigs purely fed on acorns or ‘Ibérico de Cebo’ which are pigs fed on a minor proportion of acorns and a combination of compound feeds approved by the corresponding Denomination of Origin. Our Iberico hams are all 'Bellota', and we only source hams of Iberian breed from artisan ham and charcuterie specialist Montanegra.

It is a family business located in the D.O. ‘Dehesa de Extremadura’ in the Southwest of Spain. Its geographical location is in one of the best areas of oak trees in the region, making the maximum use of the pasture for the breeding of Black Iberian Pigs.

After enjoying your meal you can move over to Bar Bodega where you will be automatically on the guest list and guaranteed free entry to bring in 2014 in style. Both venues will have a late bar, with complementary canape's and snacks available in the bar, as well as 2 for 1 Bellini cocktails all night.

Also, the Christmas party season is also fast approaching, and the busy days are almost fully booked, so if you're looking for a table, please get in touch! This year we're offering two Festive Menus for the Christmas party season, both of which are sharing banquet menus, where you get every dish to share between your group. Christmas Menu A costs £19.95 (£15.95 at lunchtimes) p/person and Christmas Menu B costs £25.95 (£21.95 at lunchtimes) p/person.

Have a Movember Cocktail & Support Charity

Movember is fast becoming a time of year when you will see many guys sporting old-fashioned 'tashes around town. It's all to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, in particular testicular & prostate cancer, which I'm sure you'll agree is a very good cause. 

Colin (our Sous Chef) and Brad (Bar Supervisor) from Waterloo have taken it upon themselves to support this good cause & grown 'tashes this Movember! To support them we are producing a Movember Cocktail menu called, "Tails & Tashes" & we will be giving proceeds from the cocktail sales to the Movember charity.

Here's some examples of what you can sample on the menu:

The Ron Burgundy... “Hey Ho! Poppa Burgundy’s here!”

As Ron Burgundy loves scotch, this cocktail is made up from Bells and Drambuie, with a dash of Butterscotch for less harshness. Served over ice, Poppa Burgundy style. £6.50

The Hulk Hogan... “I’m the man who made Wrestling famous!”

Famous for his “white handlebars”, this is a cocktail which uses Maker's Mark, fresh raspberries and white chocolate. It is a twist on the classic ‘old fashioned’, and is bound to make you rip your vest off! £7.50

The Tom Selleck... “Son, never throw a punch at a redwood!”

As Thomas Magnum was a ladies’ man, this is a sweet cocktail using Jim Beam, fresh orange slices, sugar, and egg white all shaken up. It’s finished over ice and is sure to get the ladies drooling. £7

The Charlie Chaplin... ”You'll find life is still worthwhile, if you just smile.”

This classic cocktail is renowned in America. It, like Charlie Chaplin is a bundle of laughter and consists of Jim Beam, Sweet Vermouth and Campari stirred up and served on the rocks. If this doesn’t tickle you then I don’t know what will! £7

Salvador Dali... ”Painting is an infinitely minute part of my personality.”

This "artistic" cocktail is full of flavour. It is made from bourbon, gin, orange and fresh lime. It portrays Dali’s paintings with flavours and is finished with fresh nutmeg and grated ginger. Aqui esta! £6.50

Freddie Mercury... ”I won’t be a rock star. I will be a legend.”

This cocktail will rock you! With cherry Red Stag, mint leaves, fresh fruits and sugar it is a take from the classic ‘Mint Julep’. It is built over crushed ice and decorated with mint and berries. Now that gets you singing! £7.50
