Artisan Tapas & Wine Evening, 24th April

Following on from the success of our first Tapas & Wine Pairing Evening in January, we will be hosting our second event, which will take place on Thursday 24th April in Waterloo from 6:30pm.

This event will give you the opportunity to meet one of our wine producers, with Neil Collins of Eurowines coming along to discuss the origins of his company's vineyards, and can talk you through how the different wines, how they are produced and the region where they come from.

Tickets are £29.95 per person, and will feature four exceptional wines to try each, from different regions across the world, which are paired with four courses of fabulous tapas dishes, including the following:

- Tapas Deli Board, including cured Spanish Iberico meats, olives & artisan breads

- Smoked Haddock & Crab Fishcakes, mixed leaves & mango salsa

- 1844 Mini-cumberland sausages, glazed in honey on a wholegrain mustard mash with caramelised onions

- Flatiron Steak from local, free range, rare breed cattle

- Cheeseboard

Valentine's Day 2014

Hola amigos,

Valentine’s Day is coming up, and one of the best ways to celebrate with your special someone is to enjoy a delicious meal at a romantic restaurant. We all know how important it is to pick the right place! So, to help your date go off perfectly, we have put together what we feel is an outstanding food menu, with the addition of a Champagne reception as well as our usual great vibes to create the perfect date! We will be offering the same menu in both our Liverpool city centre restaurant as well as our South Road (Waterloo) branch. We also have the added benefit of having Bar Bodega at your disposal for some romantic post-dinner cockails by candlelight, without having to walk your date through the cold in search of a good cocktail bar!

We request a deposit of £5 per person when you make your reservation. Please be quick as both restaurants are already filling up quickly!

Spanish Artisan Food Evening

Spanish-born Javier De La Hormaza (pictured right) is currently our main supplier for our Spanish delicacy products, such as acorn-fed Ibérico ham, Reserva Serrano ham, chorizo as well as some of the best wines from our list and some modern Spanish Sherries to finish. So when we were planning our first ham carving & wine pairing evening, it made sense to get Javier involved with the event. It will be held in Tapas Tapas (Waterloo) on Thursday 30th January, arriving at 6:30pm for a 7pm start. The cost is £25 per person.

You will get to sample the very best in Spanish cured meats (which we will show you how to carve from the bone), cheeses as well as a selection of gourmet tapas. All food will be paired with Spanish wines & liqueurs, and we will talk about the provenance of the food and drinks, and explain about how they are produced.

As we have spent so much time sourcing the best Spanish suppliers for our all important cured meat, cheese & wine lists, it will be great to get the opportunity to show it off to you! Together with Javier, we deal directly with small, artisan Spanish producers, and agree with his philosophy of no middlemen, knowing all of the producers and having visited them.

So this is your chance to try the products in the same way that we do! As Javier explains, it would be a great event to sample the very best produce that Spain has to offer. “I’ve had a crazy diet over the last 12 months, tasting and testing each product, but from some 500 wines we’ve selected just 50, and from 6-8 ham producers, we’ve selected one. It’s not a case of ‘this will do’, we believe in each and every product.”

Cured Iberico ham, stand & knife set; an ideal gift

Are you looking for an unusual yet quality present for someone who loves Spanish food? You can now buy one of our real acorn-fed cured legs of Spanish Iberico Ham, a stylish stand & knife in a black case and instructions for slicing it. The product costs £195, which we will courier to you, or it can be picked up from either of our restaurants, or it can be sent via courier to you.


It is exceptional value for money for a product that has won a 3* Taste Award in 2013, and equivalent Iberico hams are often sold, without the stand & knife, for almost £300 by deli's & Spanish food outlets. The ham is an ambient product so there is no need for refrigeration and it is the perfect party food or as a table feature for the family during Christmas. As it comes in a case it is also ideal for storage.


 Alternatively, you can try our Reserve Serrano Ham hamper. This ham also includes the stand & knife, for £149.

b2ap3_thumbnail_SerranoHam.jpgIbérico ham can only come from black pigs of the Iberian breed whose unique origin can be traced back to ancient times. This legendary and select race has many qualities, including a great capacity to accumulate fat under its skin and between the muscular fibres. The fat is what produces the typical white streaks that make its hams so special.

The main feature that distinguishes Ibérico from the rest of cured hams is the purity of the breed, allowed to freely move around the extensive wooded pastures called ‘Dehesas’. At least a hectare of healthy dehesa is needed to raise a single pig. All pigs are fed on a diet of grass and the best acorns from Holm and Cork Oak meadows to provide its distinctive aroma and exquisite taste. Hams are generally classified by the amount of acorns eaten before slaughter.

The official classification allowed is distinguished mainly between ‘Ibérico de Bellota’ which are pigs purely fed on acorns or ‘Ibérico de Cebo’ which are pigs fed on a minor proportion of acorns and a combination of compound feeds approved by the corresponding Denomination of Origin. Our Iberico hams are all 'Bellota', and we only source hams of Iberian breed from artisan ham and charcuterie specialist Montanegra.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Screen-Shot-2015-07-06-at-17.05.38.pngThanks to the knowledge gained during more than 70 years and several generations dedicated to this activity, Montanegra produces Ibérico products that are considered to be amongst the best nowadays in Spain. It is a family business located in the D.O. ‘Dehesa de Extremadura’ in the Southwest of Spain. Its geographical location is in one of the best areas of oak trees in the region, making the maximum use of the pasture for the breeding of Black Iberian Pigs.

Both venues will have a late bar, with complementary canape's and snacks available in the bar, as well as 2 for 1 Bellini cocktails all night.

This year we're offering two Festive Menus for the Christmas party season, both of which are sharing banquet menus, where you get every dish to share between your group. Christmas Menu A costs £19.95 (£15.95 at lunchtimes) p/person and Christmas Menu B costs £25.95 (£21.95 at lunchtimes) p/person.
